Look Over A Few Cheap Auto Insurance Quotes In Florida

To find cheap Florida auto insurance, compare many quotes side by side with the types of coverage and deductibles that you are looking for. The difference in rates is enormous, and this is the only concrete way of finding affordable car insurance in FL.

I shop for and compare bargain auto insurance rates semi-annually, when my policy is approaching renewal. About 30-45 days prior to the expiration of my policy, I begin my search. I have been doing it this way for several years now. For many years prior to now, I stayed with the same insurance company and never compared rates. Like many consumers, I was under the assumption that all rates are pretty much fixed by law and that all companies are the same with pricing. This isn’t so; they are all totally different and change their rates regularly.

Normally, about a month before renewal I set aside a Saturday or Sunday for my search. I gather all of the pertinent information that I need, including: my current policy, driver’s license information, vehicle registration information, and so on. I then visit the FL Office of Insurance Regulation website to see if anything has changed (regarding the laws) since my last policy renewal.

Next, I write down all of the coverage/limits that I want to buy. I then obtain quotes from a few online auto insurance quote websites, followed by quotes from several insurance company websites. I list the company and their rate in a spreadsheet. Finally, I compare my current insurance company’s rate with all the others and pick the lowest quotes for further investigation of those companies. There have been times when it was better for me to renew with a current company rather than change, and vice versa.

After I am satisfied that I have obtained enough quotes and have narrowed down the choices, I compare the finalists (including my current carrier, if they are in the running) and begin to investigate the condition of each company for their level of customer service as well as their financial standing. The JD Power website is great for customer satisfaction ratings and AM Best is fantastic for financial ratings.

I then make a final choice and call that company with any questions that I have. Even if I don’t have any questions I give them a call to see how helpful, knowledgeable and friendly their customer service is.

When I have a winner I make my payment online and print out my policy and insurance ID card (most companies offer this). I am then all set for a smooth transition to the new company when my current policy expires. This whole process usually takes me about 4 hours at the most and I only need to do it every 6 months.
