Cheap Auto Insurance Companies And Quotes
There are some very cheap auto insurance companies in the US, which I’m going to discuss in this article. Some of them operate only in select states, so you’re lucky if you live in one of them. Most of them cater only to select groups of drivers, so you’re lucky if you belong to the group they cater to. Generally, it’s hard to tell whether a given insurance carrier is cheap or expensive for someone, until they get a quote from that company. So, do shop around. Alright, now let’s take a look at 5 of the cheapest auto insurance companies in the US:
1. Wawanesa
Wawanesa is one of the cheapest insurance companies in the US and Canada. They service two US states: Oregon and California. One of the reasons for their lower rates is that they only accept drivers with better driving records. So, even those who live in OR, CA, or Canada, but have poor driving records may not be able to take advantage of this inexpensive auto insurance provider.
2. Amica
Amica is yet another affordable insurance company. In addition, they are very customer-friendly and sound financially. They won the top spot for overall satisfaction (JD Power), and have very nice financial ratings (AM Best). What’s the catch with this insurance company? I haven’t found any. They are licensed to sell insurance in all states with the exception of Hawaii. My advice is – check them out. I wasn’t able to obtain the lowest automobile insurance quote from them, but many people swear by them.
3. USAA
USAA is an insurance company that operates in all states but sells policies only to military personnel and their families. In general, their rates are the lowest of all, which can be explained by the fact that they specialize in a very narrow group of people. The people they specialize in are likely to be more law obedient compared to the general public.
4. Horace Mann
I wasn’t able to determine for sure, but it looks as though Horace Mann services all states or at least the majority of states. The catch is that this company sells policies only to educators. Their rates are among the lowest, which can be explained by that they cater to a very narrow group of people. The people they specialize in are generally more law obedient than the general public.
5. NJM Insurance Group
This insurance company sells policies only to the State of NJ employees and NJ Business and Industry Association members. In addition, they can sell car and homeowners insurance to their previous policyholders, probably even if they are no longer employed by or affiliated with the organizations mentioned above. Similar to USAA and Horace Mann, NJM car insurance rates are among the lowest, as they only sell to a narrow group of people that are more law obedient than the general public.
As you can see, the cheapest auto insurance companies are usually those that cater to a limited group of drivers. If you belong to a specific group, do be sure to check for rates with the corresponding insurance company. And still, it’s always great to check the rates from an array of other insurers as well.
